In a significant step towards inclusive healthcare, the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has enrolled over 1,500 persons living with HIV/AIDS into its health insurance scheme.
This milestone demonstrates RIVCHPP's commitment to ensuring that all residents of Rivers State, regardless of their health status, have access to quality healthcare services.
The Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, disclosed this during a stakeholders' engagement session, noting that the programme continues to expand its coverage to include vulnerable populations.
Dr. Agala emphasized the need for sustainable funding mechanisms to support these health interventions, calling on both government and development partners to collaborate in ensuring the continuity of these critical services.
The enrollment of persons living with HIV/AIDS aligns with RIVCHPP's mandate to provide universal health coverage and reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for all residents of Rivers State.
